Full Time, shift start and end varies between department hours of 7am-6pm Days:
Monday-Friday.
Sunnyside Retirement Community is actively seeking experienced and highly motivated Transportation Assistant to join the Transportation team.
Contribute quality work to a historically exceptional senior living community.
In Transportation, the selected candidate will provide safe, dependable and timely transportation for residents on and off campus and assist with mail distribution for the campus.
Transportation Assistants are a crucial component to our successful operation.
They are essential team members who build genuine relationships with residents, making a difference in the lives of our residents, their loved-ones, and the community.
Job Duties:
Transport residents and other passengers to scheduled medical appointments and other locations as needed.
Use all Sunnyside vehicles safely; including wheelchair bus, van and other passenger vehicles.
Adhere to proper driving/road procedures.
Provide campus shuttle timely; arrive and depart at designated times.
Transport residents to various locations; including shopping trips while accounting for all residents.
If needed, shop for residents while being good stewards of allotted money and submit necessary receipts to daytime receptionist timely.
Respond to medical emergencies calmly and professionally while transporting residents and/or other passengers.
Project professional image of Sunnyside at all times.
Follow vehicle accident policy RS.
047 timely if involved in an auto accident.
Check vehicles weekly in accordance with department checklist to ensure proper working order and complete work orders as necessary.
Notify Transportation Scheduler when going out for appointments to ensure effective time management and resident's schedules are not delayed.
Perform bank duties and account for all money and receipts.
Handle and sort incoming mail and newspapers.
Coordinate and schedule medical appointments for residents as needed.
Cover the front desk/lobby as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Basic reading, writing and math skills.
Ability to operate personal computer and other general office equipment.
Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
Current Virginia driver's license and meets driver eligibility requirements per Sunnyside policy HR069.
Commercial Driver's License (a plus) CPR and First Aid certified or ability to obtain.
Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its' integrity.
Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.
Physical & Environmental Considerations:
This job operates in an indoor and outdoor environment with varying weather and temperature conditions, including varying vehicles, outdoor surfaces and a wide range of landscaping grades.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is frequently required to routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less and occasionally more than 75 lbs.
The position requires frequent driving, manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
General hazards related to driving motor vehicles and functionality of vehicle operation as well as resident loading/unloading safely and resident emergencies.
There will be varying surfaces which could be wet, icy, muddy, etc.
Hazards related to exposure and handling of chemicals and supplies as well as possible exposure to heat and cold.
Minimal hazards if universal precautions are followed.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
