Business Process OutsourcingDepartment:
The Citizen & Defense Services business unit provides support in three major areas:
business process services, where we perform the actual function that the process is relate to; business process related software, that helps us manage the various components, the systems associated with the software in the process; and then there is a business process management which is used to help design and track the performance of the specific business process.
The business units work supports primarily the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and the U.
Patent and Trademark Office.
We support our clients with a work force of over 2600 Serco and Serco subcontractor employees and provide mission critical support services that primarily support Immigration, Visa Processing and Commerce.
The business unit also has approximately 2000 employees and operates at hundreds of locations across the United States and overseas in Korea, Japan, Italy, and Germany.
We provide personnel services to military personnel, military families, and civilians working for the military.
Our capabilities address a wide range of managed services, as well as the complete military lifecycle which includes recruitment, to active duty through retirement.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include:
o Ability to thoroughly understand and explain the patent classification process.
o Ability to provide expert guidance on a broad range of technical subjects in both the mechanical and chemical/industrial processes within Tech Center 3600.
o Classifying both CLIN1 and CLIN5 applications across all classes within TC3600.
o Applying difficult classifications and providing assistance to classifiers as needed.
o Providing quality control checks and feedback on other Patent Classifiers' classifications.
o Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in mentoring personnel displaying a variety of personalities and needs.
o Encouraging team members to learn new classes and/or cross-train into other Tech Centers by providing guidance and training to those who do.
o Executing responsibilities within the Post QA and Senior Classifier processes.
o Effectively coordinating with other Tech Centers regarding a broad range of issues, to include shared classes, class definitions, disputed resolution for applications, etc.
o Providing expert input and guidance on responses to USPTO quality assessments and providing feedback to the Tech Center regarding related trends.
o Recommending new approaches to improve quality, process and cost inefficiencies.
o Providing feedback to the Team Lead regarding the positive/negative effects of new policies on the Tech Center.
o Proactively informing the Team Lead of significant quality or production issues; responding and taking corrective action regarding issues indentified by the Team Lead, QA or Training Departments.
o Suggesting and/or implementing improvements addressing Tech Center morale.
o Developing secondary leadership of the Tech Center by displaying professionalism, positive attitude, and good work ethic.
o Assuming Team Lead responsibilities on a temporary basis as needed.
Required Skills and
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an appropriate related engineering/technical field.
A Masters is preferred with training in multiple disciplines.
Prefer a minimum of two (2) years experience as a Patent Classifier or other equivalent related experience (preferably in the patent classification or examination environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
