The Citizen & Defense Services business unit provides support in three major areas:
business process services, where we perform the actual function that the process is relate to; business process related software, that helps us manage the various components, the systems associated with the software in the process; and then there is a business process management which is used to help design and track the performance of the specific business process.
The business units work supports primarily the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and the U.
S.
Patent and Trademark Office.
We support our clients with a work force of over 2600 Serco and Serco subcontractor employees and provide mission critical support services that primarily support Immigration, Visa Processing and Commerce.
The business unit also has approximately 2000 employees and operates at hundreds of locations across the United States and overseas in Korea, Japan, Italy, and Germany.
We provide personnel services to military personnel, military families, and civilians working for the military.
Our capabilities address a wide range of managed services, as well as the complete military lifecycle which includes recruitment, to active duty through retirement.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include:
o Ability to thoroughly understand and explain the patent classification/examination processo Ability to provide expert guidance on a broad range of technical subjects related to the Mechanical subject areas in Tech Center 3700o Proficiently classifying applications across all Mechanical classes within the Tech Centero Performing difficult classifications and providing feedback to classifiers who flagged an application as 'Needs Senior'o Providing quality control checks and feedback on other Patent Classifiers' worko Encouraging team members to learn new classes and/or cross-train into other Tech Centers by providing guidance and training to those who doo Attending all training/user feedback sessions and ensuring that team members are kept up to date on new training policies/software developmentso Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in mentoring personnel displaying a variety of personalities and needso Providing feedback to the Team Lead regarding new policies and anticipating positive/negative effects on the Tech Center caused by such policieso Executing responsibilities within the Post QA and Senior Classifier processeso Effectively coordinating with other Tech Centers regarding a broad range of issues, to include but not limited to:
shared classes, disputed resolution for applications, etco Conducting research and written responses related to a broad range of technical issues o Providing expert input and guidance on responses to USPTO quality assessments and providing feedback to the Tech Center as trends developo Proactively informing the Team Lead of significant quality or production issues; responding and taking corrective action regarding issues identified by the Team Lead, QA or Trainingo Acting as interface between the Tech Center and other departments, such as QA and Trainingo Identifying and recommending new approaches to improve quality, process and cost inefficiencieso Developing secondary leadership of the Tech Center by displaying professionalism, positive attitude, and good work ethico Suggesting and/or implementing improvements addressing Tech Center moraleo Assuming Team Lead responsibilities as needed on a temporary basisRequired Skills and
Experience:
Education:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in the appropriate related technical field.
A Masters or PhD is preferred, with training in multiple disciplines.
Experience:
Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Patent Classifier or other equivalent related experience (preferably in the patent classification or examination environment)Travel:
Some travel may be required.
Security Clearance:
Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
